Eightyish widow Mrs Parkington (Greer Garson) gathers her children together to try to get her son-in-law out of trouble. As her brood squabble she looks back on her life, from her beginning as a hotel maid in frontier Nevada where she was swept off her feet by oil-man and financier Augustus Parkington.
Unusually for this genre Greer Garson (who won an Oscar for her performance) spent the majority of the movie in Jack Dawn’s old-age makeup.
