Heavy duty soap-opera: a young Josephine Norris (Olivia de Havilland) falls in love with a WWI pilot and becomes pregnant only to learn her lover has been killed in action. Her child is brought up not knowing she is his mother while she dotes on him from a distance. Later he becomes a WWII pilot while she is an American business-woman in London.
Olivia de Havilland, then aged thirty, played Josephine from her late teens to her late forties in a role which won her an Oscar. Wally Westmore did the makeup.
