Mary Steenburgen appeared in grainy b&w, imitation-newsreel flashback scenes as President Nixon’s mother, Hannah, in Nixon.

The ageing was done with superb silicon gel prosthetic appliances – as can be seen best in the colour still. Gordon Smith was responsible for this beautiful makeup.
