Tom an unhappy twelve-year-old boy – asthmatic, only child, no friends – follows a strange dog to the ruins of an old farmhouse on the Yorkshire moors, and somehow falls through a wall. He finds timeself back in 1941, where the then-thriving farm is run by Sam and Susan (Geraldine James). Thereafter . . . oh come on, every step is telegraphed clearly in advance right to the moment where Tom, back in the present, visits the now-elderly Susan in a nursing home.
Paul Hyett was responsible for Geraldine James’s old-age makeup; Simon Webber was prosthetic makeup artist.
