Old-age makeups: soaps & comedies

Soap operas and comedies – especially sketch shows – have their own conventions for depicting old age: anything goes from hyper-realistic prosthetic makeup, through the cartoonish, to a grey wig and granny glasses.

Makeups that would be unacceptable in any other context are okay in soaps and comedies. Sometimes the nature of the programme almost demands a deliberately bad or caricatured makeup.
