Mousey Helen Sharp (Goldie Hawn) balloons in size after Ernest dumps her for glamourous actress and old-school ‘friend’ Madeline Ashton (Meryl Streep): she then becomes very glamorous with a little help from a potion with some unfortunate side-effects.
Maybe someday they’ll release it on Blu-Ray – or, at least, a half-way decent DVD.
Goldie Hawn wore the most amazing fat-suit and prosthetic makeup to appear at least twice her normal size. Unusually, for such a makeup she appeared in short-sleeves in some scenes, requiring extensive prosthetic makeup to her arms. Dick Smith was credited with makeup design and Kevin Haney was prosthetics makeup supervisor for the movie but Lance Anderson (seen above working on Goldie) was credited for Goldie’s prosthetics; Jeff Fahey was the prosthetics lab supervisor.
