Reba: After Barbra Jean’s successful weight loss, Reba Hart (Reba McEntire) becomes worried that she’ll soon become the chubby friend – which, of course, gives us a chance to see Reba in a fat-suit. Gary Tunnicliffe sorted out her fat look, at very short notice.
The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause: Santa’s mysteriously losing weight: apparently, according to the rules he has to be married to continue being Santa Clause. Fortunately, his son’s school principal, Carol Newman (Elizabeth Mitchell) is very fetching so all turns out well in the end. Over the end credits we discover that Carol has undergone her own transformation on becoming the Mrs Clause. Connie Parker was makeup department head; Alec Gillis, Toby Lindala, Shauna Magrath & Tom Woodruff Jr were special makeup effects artists; Leanne Rae Podavin & Rebeccah Delchambre were makeup effects artists.
Der Grosse Bagarozy: Waldemar Pokromski helped Corinna Harfouch achieve her elephantine woman look for a fantasy sequence in this movie.
The Virgin Suicides: Mrs Lisbon (Kathleen Turner) was the mother of The Virgin Suicides. Kathleen was wonderful in this glamorous and unsympathertic role describing her character as:
She’s obviously not a woman who goes to the gym everyday. The intention was to create a woman in the 1970s who lives in the suburbs and has had five children, so I thought what we did with the looks and the body padding [dramatic pause and sly look] was quite successful.
One internet article referred to ‘mounds of prosthetics’ but elsewhere I’ve seen reference only to darkened and unflattering hair and bulky polyester clothing: I tend to think there are lies, damn lies statistics and the stories told by publicists. Kathleen Graham was the key makeup artist on the movie.
Devil’s Food: In this movie Sally McCormick (Suzanne Somers) is a TV anchorwoman who sells her soul to the devil to achieve her ideal weight and relaunch her career. I one article she referred to a four hour prosthetic makeup application to achieve her overweight look but it’s clear that the clothing (and some padding) and an unflattering hairstyle that makes her face appear rounder were equally important to her larger look. I have no information on the makeup credits for Devil’s Food: if anyone can help please email me.
The New Munsters: Marilyn Munster (Hilary Van Dyke) got enlarged in one episode of The New Munsters (aka The Munsters Today). As I came across this by accident while flipping channels I have no idea of the storyline and they didn’t show the credits (nor are they on IMDb).
Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th: Julie Benz had an unfortunate reaction to bee stings. Rick Bongiovanni was the special makeup effects artist on the movie.
