Phileas Fogg rescued princess Aouda (Shirley MacLaine in one of her earliest screen roles) from sati (probably then referrred to as suttee); she then accompanied him for the remaining part of his race Around The World In Eighty Days.
Gustaf Norin and Robert J Schiffer were responsible for makeup on the movie: the black and white image may be a test makeup as it differs from Shirley’s look in the movie (eg her eyebrows).
