Daayraa

This movie (aka The Square Circle) was the first of a trilogy of movies dealing with male-female sexuality.

A young woman, Sita (Sonali Kulkarni), is kidnapped just before her wedding but manages to escape and, having lost ‘all that’s comforting and secure in her life’ meets a wandering entertainer who plays women’s roles in street theatre; he helps Sita ‘to make a journey into the unknown to find both her home and herself’. To help her travel safely, the entertainer disguises her as a young man while he remains in drag.
