Hercules, the son of Zeus, is rejected by his mother, envied by his brother, and loathed by Zeus’s wife Hera. Hera’s plots result in his banishment from his homeland for killing his children. To atone for his sins he is set twelve seemingly-impossible tasks which are designed to destroy him. But the blind oracle Tiresias foresees an extraordinary future; like all heroes, he has a faithful companion; and the beautiful nymph Deianeira (Leelee Sobieski) secretly loves him. So, even if you have never heard the story, you know he’s going to survive terrifying odds to regain his stature as a demi-god, as a hero, and as a man – in the process accomplishing feats that will elevate him to the status of legend on Earth.
