In the first sequel to Planet of the Apes, another astronaut Brent is sent to search for the missing Taylor. The daring rescue mision leads to a subterranean city where mutant humans, who practice mind control, worship a weapon capable of destroying the entire planet.
Albina (Natalie Trundy) was one of the mutant leaders. Natalie Trundy was married to one of the producers of the Planet of the Apes movies: this may explain why she appeared in as many films in the series as Roddy McDowall. Before eventually graduating to apedom as Lisa in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Battle for the Planet of the Apes, she also played Dr Stephanie Branton, a human scientist, in Escape from the Planet of the Apes.
John Chambers was responsible for creative makeup design; Daniel C [Dan] Striepeke was makeup supervisor; Verne Langdon was special makeup effects artist (uncredited).
