Harmony Kendall: Harmony (Mercedes McNab) was in some seventeen episodes of Buffy but she only came into her own when she reappeared in Angel. She has commented on the makeup process of becoming a vampire:
I’ve got a pretty good schedule for Angel, except if I have to do the vampire thing, then I’m guaranteed to have to be there by 4:30 in the morning. It’s not my favorite time to get up, but at least I get to fall asleep in the [makeup] chair for half an hour. It takes about an hour and a half extra for the vampire make-up, which they can’t have ready to go. They’ll have the prosthetic shaped for my face, but they have to match it to my skin color and glue it on and blend it with my face. It just seems like they’ve gotten used to it by now, though, and they know what they’re doing so it goes a lot faster. Normally, you have to get to the set around 7am, and a normal day is between twelve and fifteen hours.
Alonna: In the episode ‘War Zone’ Gunn’s sister Alonna (Michele Kelly) has become a vampire. Michele commented that there were many great things about having a part in Angel but that her least favourite was the makeup:
At first, it’s really wild to see yourself as a vamp. You are totally unrecognizable. Looking in the mirror for the first few times literally freaked me out. I felt disgusted and intrigued at the same time . . . Ugly and free . . . But after 4 or so hours in that make-up, I’m telling you, that sucker starts to ITCH!!! And the drag of it is that the makeup and prosthetics are so thick that you can’t even scratch. But compared to all the fun, I can deal.
