Don’t you just love the idea of vengeance demons.
Halfrek/Hallie (Kali Rocha) is another vengeance demon and long-time mate of Anyanka/Anya though she came to Sunnydale in response to Dawn’s cry for care and attention. It’s clear from ‘Selfless’ that Halfrek and Anya have been friends since at least 1905. ‘Fool For Love’ and ‘Older And Far Away’ make it clear that Halfrek also shares some backstory with Spike; when he was still William, the would-be poet, in 1880 he was in love with her as Cecily before she became Halfrek.
Halfrek died in ‘Selfless’ when Anya thought she was offering to sacrifice her own life and soul to get out of the vengeance demon business; D’Hoffryn takes Halfrek’s instead, reminding Anya never to take the kill when you can take the pain.
