accessibility

on an access policy

This is a personal website so I do not have a formal access policy as such. However, I will as far as is posible follow good practice to maximise accessibility.

In particular I will:

  • avoid graphical links (all thumbnails are accompanied by text links) & imagemaps
  • place a text navigation bar (including a skip navigation link) at the top of every page
  • format all text through external style sheets using commonly available fonts
  • make text easily distinguishable against a clear background colour
  • use ACCESSKEY attributes for homepage, what’s new and mailto links on every page
  • use the TITLE attribute to label and describe all images.

But as the site is basically a photogallery with some supporting text, there are limits to how accessible I can make it for someone with impaired vision.

If anyone has suggestions for improving the accessibility of this site, please email me: I’d be happy to consider them and implement them where they are practical for me to do so.

Netscape 6+: hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key.
