Margaret Hilda Thatcher, baroness Thatcher, (born 1925) was leader of the Consevative Party from 1975 to 1990 and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990. Undoubtedly one of the most significant British politicians in recent political history, she was also one of the most divisive, being loved and loathed in equal measure. About the only industry she supported was the hairspray manufacturing.
I remember buttons proclaiming that the problem was not that she was a woman but that she was that woman – that about says it all.
