Louise Brooks (1906—1985) was an American actress and one of the most famous faces of the silent-movie era. Her distinctive bob haircut, which became eponymous, is still recognised to this day. As an actress she is probably remembered most for her waiflike role as the doomed Lulu, who met her fate at the hands of Jack the Ripper in Pandora’s Box.
