Queen Elizabeth I, a beautiful lady-in-waiting, a daring adventurer (in those days – the 1930s I mean – all adventurers were daring) and the Spanish Armada: I guess that says it all. Flora Robson played Elizabeth and reprised the role three years later in The Sea Hawk.

Flora Robson played a wide variety of character parts in a fifty year career in the movies: some of her many looks are displayed in the chameleons section.
