This Jennifer Saunders series was so dire that in years to come it will be studied as an object lesson in how not to make an historical comedy. I think the BBC must have looked at the concept, thought ‘Ah Ah another BlackAdder!’ and suspended all rational thought for the duration. Anyway here we have the otherwise excellent Elizabeth Berrington hamming it up complete with a bad Austrian accent.
For some reason the DVD is only available in Australia – or perhaps that should read, for some reason they’ve released it on DVD in Australia.
Lynda Armstrong was the makeup designer and Suzanne Stokes-Munton was the hair & wig designer.
