Marlene Dietrich adopted a darker look to play Lydia, a Romany, in this 1947 movie. For some reason, she seemed to play characters of every nationality except German in the mid/late-1940s – perhaps the strangest though was the blonde Iraqi in Kismet.
Wally Westmore was the makeup artist on the movie.
