This section features makeups portraying the effects (not always beneficial) of plastic & cosmetic surgery on female characters from movies and TV shows. These include not only facelifts but also more radical transformations for characters supposedly in Witness Protection Programmes. Nip/Tuck has featured everything from nose jobs to complete facial reconstruction.
There is almost a convention with these makeups that the actress first appears in makeup and then returns to her own looks to portray the character after surgery (eg Anne Heche in Nip/Tuck, Elizabeth Taylor in Ash Wednesday) – and it has to be said that there are usually sound production reasons for this particularly with recurring characters in TV shows. But sometimes (eg Tamzin Outhwaite in Frances Tuesday) the transformation is reversed.
