Little Fish: Tracy Heart (Cate Blanchett) tries to escape her past but still gets caught up in a drug deal. Cate Blanchett said: I can completely understand the notion of scarification and tattoos, but not piercing. But Rowan [the Director] really wanted me to have a nose ring. Not surprisingly therefore the nose stud is a fake. Jan Zeigenbein was makeup supervisor; Kirsten Veysey was Cate Blanchett’s makeup artist.
Torque: China (Jaime Pressly) is a tattooed and pierced biker chick in this abysmal movie; I was astounded to see it had been nominated for four awards – until I realised they were all for stunt work. Key makeup artist Kathleen Crawford and makeup artist Rick Sharp applied for the tattoos, using Tinsley Transfers.
100 Women (aka Girl Fever): Gretchen (Juleah Weikel) dumps Sam and finally gets round to that forehead piercing. Juliet Loveland was makeup department head; Angel Radefeld was key makeup artist. If anyone has a ‘before’ image of Juleah Weikel, please email me.
Get Carter: well if you were a kid called Doreen (Rachel Leigh Cook) then I guess you’d be entitled to be a bit stroppy. In the circumstances Doreen’s rebelliousness was rather restrained and included only one unobstrusive piercing. Stan Edmonds was the makeup department head.
Andromeda: the episode Fear and Loathing in the Milky Way featured Adulasia (Rachel Hayward), a bar-owner with a nose-ring.
Virtual Sexuality: Amanda Holden had a minor part as an unnamed pierced shoe shop assistant in this truly awful movie. Julianna Mendes-Ebden was chief makeup artist but I’m not sure who was responsible for Amanda’s ironwear: if anyone can confirm the credits please email me.
But I’m A Cheerleader: Megan (Natasha Lyonne) is an all-American girl – I mean she’s a cheerleader with a boyfriend – but her parents are concerned that she might be a lesbian so they send her to True Directions for sexual redirection. Once there she mets a number of weird and wonderful creatures including the goth Sinead (Katharine Towne). Rosemary Lawrence was the key makeup artist.
