fake teeth & braces: various mouth braces

Fake mouth braces seem to have two main uses in the movies: as a cheap sight gag; and to indicate that a character is younger in a flashback.

A Lot Like Love: was a pathetic attempt to rework When Harry Met Sally. Oliver’s sister Ellen (Taryn Manning) is shown over a seven year period and wears braces at her youngest appearance. Tracey Levy was makeup department head; Desne J Holland was key makeup artist; Gary Archer (GA Enterprises) was responsible for for Taryn’s braces.

Swimming Pool: a writer accepts an offer from her publisher to stay at his home in the South of France. She finds that the beautiful country locale and unhurried pace is just the tonic for her – until her publisher’s indolent and insouciant French daughter Julie (Ludivine Sagnier) unexpectedly arrives. But all is not as it seems: hence this image of a somewhat different Julia (Lauren Farrow). Gill Robillard was the makeup artist.

Love And Sex: Kate Welles (Famke Janssen) is seen in a flashback in bed with one of her teachers: the only visible sign of her age regression is that the younger Kate is wearing braces.

Brazil: Mrs Terrain’s daughter Shirley (Kathryn Pogson) gets ‘set up’ with Sam at Ida Lowry’s party. Maggie Weston was hair & makeup designer. If anyone has a contemporary image of Kathryn Pogson without the braces, please email me.
